The 20 Minute Workout …

A Harvard research study discovered that women tend to gain an average of 20 pounds over 16 years as they reach middle age. If you don’t stay physically active, you start losing muscle mass at around 40. You burn fewer calories as your body shifts from building less muscle to adding more fat and when you don’t get enough exercise as you age, visceral fat (fat around the organs) can build in your abdomen. This can happen whether you’re overweight or average. Visceral or belly fat can negatively affect your overall health and quality of life and can have long term effects.

PowerPlates work on the basis of acceleration training. Acceleration training forces your body’s muscles to contract between 25 and 50 times a second as you make gentle body movements. It’s this constant muscle tensioning that increases muscle strength and helps reduce visceral fat and keep it off in a sustainable manner. The best part of this is that a workout of this kind only takes 20 minutes.

PowerPlate is a machine that gives the body’s muscles a high speed workout by using vibrations to stimulate them to contract and relax. PowerPlate is a great time saver due to the effectiveness of training and many muscle groups are activated at the same time (Guardian 2001). Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research recently reported that muscle activity is boosted by up to 300% on the PowerPlate compared with doing the same exercise on the floor.

Here at ActiveVibe we run 20 minute workouts starting from 8.30am and last class being 8.40pm Monday to Thursday, 8.30am – 6.40pm Fridays and 8.30am – 12 noon Saturdays. We have 9 PowerPlates in the studio and our classes are all instructor led, with different days of the week targeting different areas of the body. We also run rehab and recovery programmes for injuries and illnesses on the PowerPlates as they are medically certified devices.

Here’s what some of our customers have to say about our 20 minute instructor led PowerPlate workouts;

ActiveVibe is perfect as it fits into my very busy lifestyle as a working mum. I attend in my lunch hour which gives me time to work out, refresh and then have lunch. It even gives me more energy during the afternoon! This gives me my evenings and weekends free to spend with my family and carry out those dreaded chores. This is the first time I have been able to really commit to any form of exercise as it’s just 20 minutes out of my day. Thoroughly convenient and thoroughly enjoyable.

I have been using PowerPlates for the last 2 years and have find it perfect for my hectic lifestyle! Being a student nurse I can easily work 50hour weeks and would find it difficult to fit in long gym sessions or exercise classes! PowerPlates is fun, short and effective and perfect for my lifestyle! Not to forget how friendly the staff and members are making you feel like a big family!

    • Hi there,

      Thanks for the positive feedback!

      With regards to running a blog it’s no hassle at all – if anything its really enjoyable to write up about different achievements and goings on. I would jot things down as they happen for you to then write up on as it’s so easy to forget.

      I’ve learnt from other bloggers to make sure you don’t repeat the same topics in different blog posts and this becomes boring for readers and shows that you are continually up to date.

      Hope this helps and happy blogging!
